As sports enthusiasts, we would like to introduce you to the Spartathlona legendary race dating back to Ancient Greece.

In an attempt to relive the feat of Phidippides two millennia ago, John Foden and four friends set themselves the challenge of connecting Athens to Sparta by less than a day and a half in 1982. From this crazy bet was born a legendary race of 246 kmthe Spartathlon.

Every year at the end of September, no less than a dozen 300 athletes who start from the world's toughest race.

To be eligible to compete, athletes must meet one of the following criteria: have completed a 100km course in less than 10.5 hours, or have already participated in a long distance race.

The distance represents the first great difficulty of the race. In addition, there are time limits which are shorter than in any other competition. There are 75 checkpoints throughout the Spartathlon and runners must connect these points within an allotted time. If athletes fail to meet the time limit, they are eliminated. Constantly looking at the clock is stressful and is often the reason why participants do not complete the course. According to James Adams, who has completed the Spartathlon twice, the secret to successfully completing this race is to " keep your mental control ".

During this supreme physical challenge, competitors pass through historic cities, pass famous monuments such as the Temple of Apollo and see splendid mountainous landscapes. Far from being a simple tourist visit, this race puts the physical conditions and mental athletes to severe tests. This is a unique opportunity for them to test themselves against an amazing example of human endurance.
